First Ride of WensAmbulance Haaksbergen

HAAKSBERGEN – Exactly one week after the introduction of WensAmbulance Haaksbergen, the volunteers were able to make a first wish come true.

Early last week, a wish request arrived. A wish they could and did not want to refuse. A lady living in a nursing home in Goor dearly wanted to attend her husband's funeral in Haarlo. At such a moment, the team knows only one thing: we will do everything possible to make this happen. And that's what we did.

On Saturday afternoon, they picked her up in Goor. Together with her sister, she traveled by ambulance to Haarlo. The children accompanied their father on motorcycles to his final resting place, and the WensAmbulance was ready in time to witness their arrival together with the lady. An impressive and emotional moment. It was a beautiful and dignified farewell.

By the end of the afternoon, the lady was tired from all the impressions and emotions. During the return trip to Goor, she was able to sleep peacefully, after which she was warmly welcomed back at the nursing home.

For the volunteers of WensAmbulance, Saturday afternoon made it abundantly clear how important their presence is. They are working hard to be fully prepared for future wish requests and will then announce when wishes can officially be submitted.
